About The Society

F ounded in 2006 by a group of like-minded, driven individuals, Thespian is now one of the most active non-profit theatre groups in the country. We are registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 in New Delhi as an autonomous organization, with a growing national presence.

At Thespian, we welcome you to a world where art meets compassion, and drama meets humanity. We are devoted to working towards a better society through the simplest and most effective medium of communication – theatre. Through our efforts, we throw light on the ills our society faces every day such as child abuse, unsafe roads, consumer affairs, global warming and the like. Our talented members represent varied cultural fields such as painting, sculpture, art, theatre and music. Together we strive for the betterment of society by spreading awareness on social issues.

Further, theatre lovers across the country are given an opportunity to develop their talent at our society. Thespian is an amalgamation of love for the craft, passion for teaching and a distinctive vision that aims to build a strong platform for budding enthusiasts. We believe learning should be fun. Hence, we use theatre as a powerful tool to educate people. Theatre provides a platform where one can explore themselves and the environment we live in, from a new perspective. It also helps in personality development and teaches us to shed inhibitions and reach out to the world. We have designed special training packages for all age groups according to individual needs. Thespian Society has made rapid strides in the area of child development and personality enhancement of adults. We have organized workshops for normal children as well as for those with special needs, along with school and college teachers. To this end, we undertake research in child development, building on the Peter Slade's methodology, an expert in the fields of educational drama, children's theatre and drama therapy.

Thespian society produces high-quality theatre for commercial as well as social agendas, in association with various legendary actors. Through our performances we believe we can also be beneficial to businesses and other organizations to increase efficiency and aid in promotion, while creating more employment in this art form. We have been involved in various shows, which were highly appreciated, by the public, press and media. We are also researching the impact of street shows in social campaigns like Aids, Consumer education Movement, Pollution and Environmental safety. We, at Thespian, also promote music and satirical, yet hard-hitting, short films through our initiatives.
